River Rock Casino Poker Players Vie for WSOP Seat

GEYERSVILLE, California -- One River Rock Casino poker player will win a $10,000 seat in the No-Limit Texas Hold'em World Series of Poker that starts Friday, July 6, at the Rio Suite HotelRiver Rock Casino

Entry tickets for River Rock's Second Annual One-Day Showdown Tournament on Saturday, June 2, can now be earned with the Player's Club card during all poker room sessions. Players earn tickets for every three hours of tracked play. On Saturday, June 2, 40 names will be randomly drawn to participate in a four-table tournament. The player who finishes first will win a $10,000 entry into the World Series of Poker and an additional $2,000 in travel cash.

Each of the 10 finalists will win cash. Second-place will win $2,000; third, $1,500; fourth, $1,000; fifth, $750; sixth, $500; seventh, $250 and eighth-tenth, $100 each.

Leo Gonzalez, 32, an electrician from Cloverdale, CA, was the first River Rock Showdown Tournament winner and played in last year's WSOP No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament.

To be eligible, players must have a valid River Rock Casino Player's Club Card, which is available by signing up at the Player's Club booth in the casino. For every three hours of tracked play, the player will receive one drawing ticket. Players can earn additional tickets for play during specified times and weekly tournaments. Players must be present on Saturday, June 2, to win a seat in the tournament and they must participate in the tournament to be eligible to win any of the cash prizes. The World Series of Poker, held annually in Las Vegas, is the world's richest poker tournament. The No-Limit Texas Hold'em WSOP will be held July 6-July 17 at the Rio Hotel & Casino with the finals at Harrah's Hotel & Casino on the Strip. The finals will be taped and televised at a later date on the ESPN network. The 2006 champion, Jamie Gold of Malibu, CA, won $12 million.
