Pokerstars $40K Freeroll at European Poker Tour

Friday, January 23, 2009

CURACAO, Netherlands Antilles --  Stunning views. Lavish surroundings. Soft Mediterranean breezes. The chance to mingle with royalty. An €8 million+ prize pool.

The PokerStars.com European
Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo may be the most decadent and singular poker tournament on the planet, and one PokerListings.com player will get to experience it firsthand this year compliments of an upcoming private $20k freeroll.

The newly announced freeroll heads a new series exclusive to PokerListings players at Poker Stars that will pay out well over $300,000 in cash and prizes in 2009.

"There's not much more you need to say about the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo than what the location suggests," says Hannah Mayen, media relations director for PokerListings.com. "It's legendary. And glamorous. And every bit as opulent and awe-inspiring as you might expect.

"It really is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of place - all clichés aside - and it may in fact be one of the most unique and memorable events a poker player can ever participate in.

"To give one of our players the chance to hit the felt in that amazing locale and soak it all in," Mayen adds, "is the perfect way to follow up our year-opening $40k freeroll and to build momentum for another great year of PokerListings freerolls at PokerStars."

Freeroll date is set for Feb. 15, 2009, with entry open to all PokerListings players (new or existing, signed up at Poker Stars via PokerListings link) who earn 250 frequent player points in the month of January.

Freeroll winner will take home an exclusive prize package worth nearly USD $19,000 and which includes the €10,000 main event buy-in, luxury hotel accommodation plus money for expenses. The remaining $1,000+ in cash will be spread to a deep prize pool.

The 2009 EPT Grand Final is set to play April 28 - May 3, 2009, at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort and Hotel. Last year's Grand Final was won by PokerStars qualifier and 22-year-old student from Canada, Glen Chorny, who took home €2,020,000.

Rounding out the private freeroll schedule for next month, all PokerListings players at PokerStars who earn just a single player point in January are also eligible for an exclusive $5,000 cash freeroll, set to play Feb. 8.
