  World Series of Poker and WPT championship titles.
Mortensen was part of a field of 639 players who paid $25,000 each to make the fifth WPT Championship the largest one yet. The players generated a prize pool of more than $15 million, of which $3.97 million went to Mortensen, who won his WSOP main event bracelet in 2001.
Mortensen bested Kirk Morrison in a thrilling hours-long heads-up battle.  Mortensen, vowing to always look forward, had a number of incredible comebacks at the final table.  At times down 5 to 1 in chipcount, he looked to be on the verge of elimination before coming back to take the event.  Both Morrison and Mortensen had supporters in the crowd, with many people being friends with them both (including Daniel Negreanu, who counts them as two of his closet friends.)
The final hand come down with both players betting all of their money in pre-flop with Mortensen holding K J of hearts and Morrison holding A 4 offsuit. The flop brought blanks to both players, but a Jack on the turn put Mortensen well out in front. The river brought no help to Morrison, and Mortensen won the championship.
The top six finishers were:
    * Juan Carlos Mortensen, $3.97 million
    * Kirk Morrison, $2 million
    * Paul Lee, $1 million
    * Guy Laliberte, $696,000
    * Tim Phan, $484,000
    * Mike Wattel, $309,000
Scott Fischman, author of "Online Ace -- A World Series of Poker Champion's Guide to Mastering Internet Poker" finished eight in the tournament.
