Uncasville, CT -- Mohegan Sun is pleased to announce that country superstar Martina McBride has joined the roster of top-tier entertainers who have become a part of the “Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame.”

Martina McBride has joined other great entertainers at the Mohegan Sun's Walk of Fame. Her induction took place today in the forecourt of the Mohegan Sun Box Office. Accepting her honor before a crowd of adoring fans, a smiling Martina McBride said “I hope we can continue this wonderful relationship with Mohegan Sun.”
Martina McBride’s relationship with Mohegan Sun began over seven years ago in the former Uncas Pavilion, where she opened the venue’s summer 2000 concert season. After the opening of Mohegan Sun Arena in 2001, she began performing within that venue. Her performance this evening marks her fifth concert at Mohegan Sun. To date, she has performed before more than 35,000 fans at Mohegan Sun. Tonight she returns to the Arena stage along with Little Big Town and Rodney Atkins in a concert beginning at 7:30pm.
Martina McBride has become one of country music’s shining stars, with an extremely successful career that spans more than fifteen years. She has sold over 16 million records, produced ten top 10 singles, and six #1’s. As a country artist she has experienced crossover appeal unlike any other artist, making fans of all ages and musical categories. Her most recent endeavor is a solo-produced album entitled Waking Up Laughing which was released April 3rd. It has generated the hit “Anyway”which was written by McBride. The album is riding high, placing at #2 on Billboard’s Country charts, and at #4 on the Billboard 200 General Album Chart. Millions of viewers saw her this past week as a mentor to the final seven contestants on American Idol.
Recently celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Mohegan Sun has become the Northeast’s premier entertainment destination. In order to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to the company’s success, Mohegan Sun has developed the “Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame.” Tim McGraw was the first inductee in 2004; Rod Stewart and Alan Jackson were honored in 2005. Toby Keith, Bon Jovi, Journey, Def Leppard, Brooks and Dunn and Rascal Flatts were honored with stars in 2006. All individuals inducted into the “Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame” will have their name engraved on a plaque that will be permanently placed at the entrance to Mohegan Sun Arena. They will also receive a crystal replica to commemorate the occasion during a special induction ceremony held at Mohegan Sun.
