Phil Gordon's Little Blue Book
by Phil Gordon
Book Picture
Valuable sections include Cash Games AND Tournament Play; Sit and Gos; Satellites and Supersatellites. Nicely illustrated with many lessons, examples and analysis, it’s a balanced, smooth-reading textbook, some of which is based on the author's experience. This balance of common sense, strategies, ploys and an honest appraisal of what was going through his mind when he made his moves adds strength to this powerful, positive pack of lessons. One unique approach is to  'improve at poker is not by finding answers. It is by finding questions,' says champion Chris Ferguson in the foreward. This companion book to Gordon's Little Green Book does just that.

Pennsylvania Slot Machine Casino License Process Underway

Wednesday, November 02, 2005
PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – as reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: “The state Gaming Control Board opened the door yesterday to competitors interested in securing licenses for five slot machine casinos and two resort parlors up for grabs in Pennsylvania.
“But don't expect a mad dash from potential bidders.
“While Tuesday was the first day those interested in either the casino or resort licenses could file applications with the state, nobody is expecting the gaming board to be inundated with paperwork any time soon.
“For one, the lengthy application forms, on par with anything you'd get from the IRS, just appeared online late Monday, assuring that it would be some time before even the most seasoned gambling operator would be able to file.
“And second, even though the prize is slots, there may be some poker involved: Nobody wants to show his hand too soon. The deadline for applications is Dec. 28.
“…The gaming board is asking the potential bidders for the casino license to submit very detailed personal, business and financial information, including arrests, full family histories, employment going back 20 years or until the age 18, ownership interests in companies, and any previous associations with gambling companies or employment.
“They must also provide detailed information about their plans and the proposed location for the casino, right down to floor plans showing where Pennsylvania lottery tickets will be sold, as required under the state's gambling law.
“In addition, they must submit appropriate business and tourism studies, economic impact studies and projected revenue and business plans to show that the casino is "in a revenue or tourism-enhanced location," also required under the law.
“…Overall, there could be 20 applications for casino and resort licenses statewide, Mr. Weinert said. One casino license will go to Pittsburgh, two to Philadelphia and two to areas outside those cities. Two resort licenses also will be awarded statewide.”
