UltimateBet Heads-Up Smackdown Returns

Sunday, August 12, 2007

Miami, Florida -- UltimateBet today announced the official launch date of the second Heads-Up Smackdown, a head-to-head Texas Hold'em poker tournament modeled after college basketball's famous bracket
  series.

"We've raised the stakes and amplified the intensity of our signature head-to-head competition," stated UltimateBet spokesperson George MacLean. "With the addition of a second event, UB is truly becoming the poker world's heads-up headquarters."

With the addition of a second event, UB is truly becoming the poker world's heads-up headquarters. The first round of the 128-player one-on-one tournament begins September 1st, one day before the final two players of the inaugural 64-player event battle it out for the championship title.

The freshmen Heads-Up Smackdown tournament sold out in 3 days and UltimateBet is expecting the seats in the sophomore event to fill up just as quickly.

The new tournament features double the players and quadruple the prize pool of the original. Beginning September 1st, a total of 128 players - up from the original 64 - will compete in a heads-up bracket battle as the playing field narrows itself down from 128 players to the final two.

On September 30th, the championship match will be carried out online. The winner of the heads-up tournament will win a first place prize of $44,800, a limited edition Heads-Up Smackdown championship ring, free entry into the next heads-up challenge, and entry into the end-of-year Heads-Up Bracket of Champions where the winner gets to play 11-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth for $30,000.

Registration for the 128-player tournament is now open. Players can buy directly into the event for $1,000+50 or win their spot through daily satellites. Full details on the Heads-Up Smackdown can be found online at UltimateBet.com.

Ultimate Bet is one of the most respected poker sites online and is endorsed by professionals like Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth. The site offers Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha 8/b, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud 8/b, Crazy Pineapple, Crazy Pineapple 8/b, Triple Draw, Royal Hold'em. Table limits range from penny games up to $300-600.
