that will be gracing the British online sports-betting and horse wagering scene in the near future. This venture is a partnership between The Sun newspaper andThere are occasions when we here at ReadyBetGo want to bring you interesting facts about the gambling industry When something catches our eye, we will publish it for your enjoyment.
Tabcorp, an experienced Australian gambling services company. It's expected to launch sometime in 2016. Some may question the wisdom of a newspaper entering the competitive Internet gambling market, but The Sun has already achieved a measure of success with its previous efforts in this area. Sun Bingo
is an popular, award-winning virtual bingo hall that has been around for almost a decade. Rupert Murdoch's News UK corporation – the owner of The Sun – added to its gambling offerings in 2015 with Sun Play, an online casino. So opening a site for betting on sports makes sense because it allows The Sun to leverage its sizable existing player databases and entice new punters to try their hands at sports wagering.
News UK also owns Fabulous Bingo and a fantasy sports site called “Dream Team.” It appears that Tabcorp will be actually running the site and will share the revenues with News UK. The two parties have signed an agreement lasting 10 years, which can be renewed depending on performance.
Jamie Hart has been chosen to lead the new enterprise. Hart had previously worked as innovation director for William Hill, one one of the UK's largest and most renowned bookies.
The saturated field of bookmaking organizations in the United Kingdom contains such well-known names as the above-mentioned William Hill along with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, bet365, Betfred and bwin as well as numerous smaller competitors.
Tabcorp hopes to carve out a niche for Sun Bets through nationwide marketing efforts, its use of the marquee Sun brand and its ability to tap into The Sun's existing client base. The new platform is expected to be available through web browsers and dedicated mobile apps for smartphone and tablet users. An existing sports-betting operation called Sunbets is based in South Africa and appears to be unrelated to either The Sun or Tabcorp.
