Kiowa Casino Set to Open May 23rd

OKLAHOMA -- The Great Kiowa Nation is ready to open its first casino. And with ten years preparation, this is more than just a typical Oklahoma casino. The tribe wants to bring Las Vegas style gambling
Kiowa Casino features a Drum Arena as part of its casino floor.  to Texoma. So it has more than slot machines - much more.

The 63,000 square foot building is a showcase of the Kiowa heritage and their traditions. The Kiowa Nation wants people to have fun at the new gaming facility. But it also wants them to learn about and experience the Kiowa heritage.

Not only does it have almost a thousand slot machines and 20 gaming tables, the Kiowa Casino has three different restaurants. There's a steakhouse, a sports bar and the morning star buffet, with enough seating for 200 - something for everyone's taste. But here's what make this casino even more unique.

Kiowa Casino rep Amber Toppah says the Kiowa heritage is an important part of the casino. Toppah is very proud of the work done in the building. She says it showcases the Kiowa spirit.

The new casino also has many features similar to its Las Vegas counterparts: private poker rooms, a non-smoking slots area and even free valet parking. The Kiowa Casino broke ground in January 2006 and has finally seen the dream come true.

The casino opens to the public on May 23rd at noon. It's just north of Wichita Falls off of I-44, Exit 1. They are still in the planning of phase two, which includes adding a hotel for guests.
