KANSAS -- As reported by the Ark Valley News: "Expanded gambling won't be decided until later this summer, but talks surrounding where a casino could be built in Sedgwick County are in full swing.
"Since
state lawmakers approved the matter earlier this year, a number of potential sites have been discussed. Some center on Wichita, while others have focused on areas farther north.
"One possible location is the Kansas Coliseum.
"Sedgwick County commissioners were to discuss June 13 whether to request project proposals to transform the Coliseum into a casino.
"...Another oft-mentioned location is a section of land near I-135 and 77th Street — a piece of property on which former Wichita Mayor Bob Knight and a development group hold options for a $300-million casino project.
"...Park City leaders took an early step June 12 to open the door for a casino at this location..."
