GOLDTOWN, Nevada -- As reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal: "Casino resort developers are hoping to strike gold in Indian Hills.
"Plans for Goldtown -- a proposed destination resort to
feature a total health and wellness spa, retail shops, 300 hotel rooms, a casino and events and business centers -- are on the fast track to reality.
"Development designs for the $250 million resort face approval by Douglas County, but if all goes according to plan, construction should begin at the corner of South Sunridge Drive and U.S. 395 by the end of June 2008.
"If built, the casino resort will be in company with another similar proposed resort, Jethro Bodine's 'Beverly Hillbillies' Mansion and Casino, expected to take shape a mile north along the highway.
"The possible competition didn't sidetrack Goldtown plans that have been in the works for about 15 years, but owners have redesigned the site to be more neighbor friendly, developers told the Indian Hills board of trustees last week..."
