BUFFALO, New York -- As reported by First Business of Buffalo: "Less than one day after the National Indian Gaming Commission approved the opening of the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, the venue

welcomed its first patrons Tuesday morning. The casino opened its doors at 10 a.m.
"The opening marks a significant milestone for the Seneca Nation of Indians in their efforts to bring casino gaming to Buffalo. The project remains subject to on-going litigation.
"The Seneca Nation's Department of Justice received the official green light from the National Indian Gaming Commission late Monday and crews worked through the night bringing in 124 slot machines that were housed at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel.
"I'm shocked, but I guess I shouldn't be," said Joel Rose, co-chairman of Citizens Against Casino Gaming in Erie County and a plaintiff in the on-going litigation. "I honestly don't think a little Quonset Hut is going to be much of a attraction."
"Casino supporters say the interim casino is the first step towards a major economic development project that kick start new projects along an economically challenged area of Buffalo. The project is expected to employ more than 1,000 people and be a key piece in a more wide spread economic development puzzle that includes a Bass Pro store and other improvements in the nearby Buffalo Inner Harbor.
"The opening of this interim casino is another sign of progress taking place in the City of Buffalo," said Mayor Byron Brown.
